Women's Water Polo: No. 5 Rio Hondo faces No. 4 Chaffey at SCC tourney

With a 4-4 record in South Coast Conference play, the Rio Hondo College women's water polo team has received the No. 5 seed for this week's SCC Championship tournament. The newly-formatted two-day event runs Friday-Saturday (Nov. 4-5) and is being held at Pasadena City College.

The No. 5 Roadrunners will take on No. 4 Chaffey College  in Friday's opening-round game scheduled for 12:45 p.m. A win in that contest would advance Rio Hondo to a semifinal matchup that evening at 6:15 p.m. against top-seeded Long Beach City College (16-10, 8-0 SCC).

Saturday's championship final is scheduled for 3:15 p.m. with teams looking to advance to next week's Southern California Regional Championship tournament.

Rio Hondo takes an 11-14 overall record into Friday's contest but has won five of its last eight games heading into the tourney. In their lone meeting of the season, Chaffey beat the Roadrunners 15-8 in Rancho Cucamonga.

Chaffey finished fourth in the regular-season SCC standings at 5-3 and is 9-15 overall.
