WHITTIER – Angel Luna totaled 15 assists and 10 digs while Hailey Hammond had 7 kills to help lead Rio Hondo College to its first win of the season, a 3-0 sweep of visiting Antelope Valley College on Wednesday at home.
The 25-11, 25-22, 25-23 victory also marked the first for new Roadrunners' head coach Jackson Wong.
Luna added 4 aces and a pair of kills to her big match. Megan Liggins contributed a team-best 14 digs and 3 aces. Maritza Flores added 5 kills and Osyris Roldan had 4 kills.
Rio Hondo improved to 1-8 overall. The Roadrunners will look to keep the momentum going on Friday (Sep. 20) when they host San Bernardino Valley College in a non-conference match.
