Women’s Volleyball: No. 15 Rio Hondo picks up 3-1 win at East Los Angeles

MONTEREY PARK – Maria Bejines totaled 17 kills and 14 digs while Jade Fuentes had 14 kills and 11 digs to help lead the No. 15 state-ranked Rio Hondo College women's volleyball team to a 3-1 win at East Los Angeles College on Friday night.

The 25-16, 23-25, 25-20, 25-17 victory improved the Roadrunners to 17-4 overall. Rio Hondo remains on top of the South Coast Conference standings at 12-1 with 3 matches left to play.

"It was an awesome win on the road," said head coach Teddi Esko. "I'm very proud of our team battling hard tonight to pick up another conference victory."

The Roadrunners had 58 kills on the night, their second highest total of the season. Loren Forster and Madison Mader chipped in with 7 kills each.

On the defensive end, Jaida Zuniga led with 15 digs while Carly Kejmar posted a match-high 40 assists to go with 10 digs.

Rio Hondo is back in action next Friday (Nov. 3) when the Roadrunners host Los Angeles Harbor College in a 6 p.m. SCC match.
