Women’s Volleyball: No. 11 Roadrunners fall in 4 at No. 17 Pasadena

PASADENA – The No. 11 state-ranked Rio Hondo College women's volleyball team saw its 10-match winning streak come to an end with a 3-1 loss at No. 17 Pasadena City College on Wednesday night.

The Roadrunners suffered just their first South Coast Conference loss of the season but still remain in first place at 9-1. Rio Hondo is now 14-4 overall.

Rio Hondo got the match off to a good start, taking the opening set 25-23. But Pasadena (14-6, 7-3 SCC) got off to a quick start in the second which set the tone for the remainder of the match. PCC won the next three by scores of 25-13, 25-16, and 25-18 to extend its home winning streak to 8 matches.

Maria Bejines led Rio Hondo with 10 kills on the night and added 12 digs. Jaida Zuniga had a match-high 20 digs while Loren Foster chipped in with 8 kills and Carly Kejmar posted 15 assists.

Rio Hondo will look to get back on track this Friday (Oct. 20) when the Roadrunners host Los Angeles City College in a 6 p.m. South Coast Conference match.
