Women’s Volleyball: No. 15 Roadrunners win eighth straight with sweep of El Camino

TORRANCE – Rio Hondo College continued its dominance of South Coast Conference opponents. On Friday, the Roadrunners won their eighth consecutive match and remained perfect in conference play with a 25-20, 25-17, 25-20 victory at El Camino College.

For Rio Hondo, it was its third straight sweep and fourth over its last seven contests. The Roadrunners improved to 12-3 overall and now lead the South Coast Conference standings at 7-0. Previously unbeaten Long Beach City College, the Roadrunners' next opponent, suffered its first loss of the season on Friday to East Los Angeles College to fall to 6-1.

Sophomore Maria Bejines had another big match, leading Rio Hondo wit 13 kills and 10 digs. She also added a pair of blocks. Madison Mader was solid with 14 assists, 9 kills, 4 aces, 4 digs, and 3 blocks.

Carly Kejmar totaled 20 assists to go with 10 digs and Jade Fuentes posted 9 kills.

"I'm very proud of my team they executed such a solid game against El Camino," said head coach Teddi Esko. "Our aggressive serving set that tone for the match. Everyone is contributing and doing their job."

The showdown with Long Beach is set for Wednesday (Oct. 11) at LBCC. Opening serve is scheduled for 6 p.m.
