Women’s Volleyball: Roadrunners pick up first win, sweep San Diego City

WHITTIER – Sophomore Faith Lee posted 10 kills, 10 digs, and 4 aces while sophomore Faith Wada totaled 8 kills, 15 assists, and 7 digs to help lead the Rio Hondo College women's volleyball team to its first win of the season, a 3-0 sweep of visiting San Diego City College on Wednesday.

The Roadrunners won the match by scores of 25-15, 25-21, and 25-12 to improve to 1-3 overall.

Lee and Wada were efficient in their attack as Lee hit .400 for the contest and Wada was at .357.

Rio Hondo got contributions from up and down the roster. Maria Bejines had 8 kills, Jayleen Garcia posted 5 kills, Nadine Oronoz totaled 15 digs, 4 kills, and 3 aces, and Daisy Macias-Cruz chipped in with 10 assists, 4 digs, and 3 aces.

Rio Hondo will look to keep the momentum going on Tuesday (Sep. 13) when the Roadrunners travel to Antelope Valley College for a 5 p.m. non-conference match.
