Women’s Volleyball: Rio Hondo closes season with narrow loss at ELAC

The 2018 Rio Hondo College women's volleyball season came to a close following the Roadrunners' hard-fought loss in five sets at East Los Angeles College on Tuesday.

Rio Hondo came up just short in their comeback attempt and lost by scores of 20-25, 25-18, 25-22, 16-25, and 16-14. The Roadrunners ended the year with a 6-17 overall record and went 1-7 in South Coast Conference North Division play.

Mara Sanchez and Danielle Betancourt had huge matches for Rio Hondo. Sanchez totaled 13 kills, 9 digs, and 3 aces while Betancourt had 11 kills and 4 blocks.

The Roadrunners' serving came up with big points throughout the match as Rio Hondo totaled 17 aces. Juliana Colon and Alejandra Lopez had four each to lead the squad.

Lopez also had a team-high 11 digs and Aliah Trujillo totaled 23 assists.
