Women’s Volleyball: Roadrunners fall 3-0 at No. 9 Long Beach

Going into Friday night's South Coast Conference interdivision match at Long Beach City College, the Rio Hondo College women's volleyball team knew it would be facing one of its toughest opponents of the season. Despite the final tally of 3-0, the Roadrunners held their own against the No. 9 state-ranked Vikings on their home court.

Rio Hondo pushed Long Beach to 25-22 in Set 1. The Roadrunners were competitive again in a 25-21 loss in the second set before dropping the third by a final score of 25-13.  

Mara Sanchez led the Rio Hondo offense with 8 kills while Jordan Midyette added 5 kills. Janine Coria had a team-best 7 digs and Danielle Betancourt led all with 6 total blocks (5 solo).

Rio Hondo, now 2-7 overall, returns to action on Wednesday (Sep. 26) when the Roadrunners travel to face LA Harbor College in Wilmington at 6 p.m.
