Sophomore Victoria Martinez totaled 10 kills and 13 assists to help lead Rio Hondo College to a 3-0 sweep of visiting Chaffey College on Wednesday in Whittier.

The Roadrunners won the South Coast Conference North Division match by scores of 25-18, 25-13, and 25-16 to improve to 7-10 overall and 1-1 in division play.

Rio Hondo hit .309 as a team during the match with Martinez connecting for her team-best 10 kills on 17 attempts for a .471 percentage. Even more efficient was Andrea Sanchez hitting .636 thanks to seven kills on 11 attempts.

Other standouts in the match for the Roadrunners included Mia Torres with 13 assists and a match-high five aces. Natalie Magallon led Rio Hondo with seven digs to go with three kills and three aces while Bree Newton chipped in with six kills and two block assists.

Rio Hondo will look to keep its momentum going on Friday (Oct. 13) when the Roadrunners travel to East Los Angeles College for a 6 p.m. SCC North Division match.
