Women’s Soccer: Roadrunners cruise to routs over Compton, LA Harbor

The Rio Hondo College women's soccer team offense exploded to score 15 goals over a two-game stretch, as the Roadrunners rolled to a 10-0 win at Compton College on Friday and took care of business at home on Tuesday with a 5-0 victory over Los Angeles Harbor College.

The South Coast Conference interdivision wins improved the Roadrunners to 9-2-1 overall. Rio Hondo has now won seven straight games.

The Roadrunners put on a scoring clinic in the big win at Compton. Rio Hondo outshot the Tartars by a 33-2 margin. The Roadrunners spread the wealth in the contest as eight difference players scored.

Nicole Chavez scored twice and added an assist while Taly Jimenez also had two goals. Breanna Alvarado also had a good match with a goal and two assists.

Izella Delgadillo needed to make just one save in posting Rio Hondo's third straight shutout and fifth of the season.

Madison Mader scored twice to lead the Roadrunners in the home win over the visiting LA Harbor College Seahawks on Tuesday. Emma Contreras, Marissa Morales, and Sam Garcia also found the back of the net for Rio Hondo.

The Roadrunners' defense was just as impressive as it didn't allow a shot by the Seahawks. Delgadillo once again had an easy time in goal and helped post Rio Hondo's fourth consecutive shutout and sixth overall.

Rio Hondo can now focus its attention on its next opponent, defending state champion and current No. 4 nationally-ranked Cerritos College. The Roadrunners host the Falcons in Whittier on Friday (Oct. 20) at 6 p.m.
