Roadrunners close 2023-24 season; Morales, Liu, Naruko, Valdes named All-SCC

The 2023-24 Rio Hondo College women's basketball season officially came to an end with the Roadrunners' 86-58 loss at Pasadena City College on Feb. 23.

Miranda Morales closed out an impressive first season with Rio Hondo by scoring a team-high 21 points against the Lancers. Emily Liu had 11 points and 4 rebounds while Emi Naruko contributed 4 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists and a pair of steals. Hesma Valdes chipped in with 8 points and 6 boards.

Following the close of the regular season, the group was honored with All-South Coast Conference postseason awards.

Morales and Liu led the way, garnering first-team All-SCC accolades. Morales ranked fourth in the SCC in scoring, averaging 19.5 points per game. Liu led the conference in blocks at 2.8 per game while averaging 8.7 points and 7.1 rebounds.

Named second team were Naruko and Valdes. Valdes averaged 3.5 points while Valdes posted 9.1 points and 7.8 rebounds per game.

Rio Hondo closed with a 4-24 overall record and went 1-7 in the South Coast Conference North Division.
