Women’s Basketball: Second-half surge leads to win at MiraCosta

Freshman Amanda Lee exploded for a season-high 26 points to help lead the Rio Hondo College women's basketball team to an 85-74 win at MiraCosta College on Saturday.

The non-conference victory improved Rio Hondo to 6-2 overall this season.

Trailing 44-34 at halftime, the Roadrunners rallied in the third quarter by outscoring MiraCosta by a 29-10 margin. Rio Hondo was up 69-54 to start the fourth and was never threatened the rest of the way.

Lee added 4 assists, 3 rebounds, 2 steals, and 2 blocks to her career-best scoring night. She made 11 of 16 shots from the field, including a pair of three-pointers.

Christina Hilton also had a big game, totaling a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds. She also dished out 7 assists and had 4 blocks. Amy Navarro put up 16 points and grabbed 7 boards while Robyn Quintana chipped in with 8 rebounds and 6 points.

Rio Hondo looks to continue its hot start to the season on Thursday (Dec. 6) at 4 p.m. when the Roadrunners face El Camino College in an opening-round game of the Irvine Valley College Tournament.
