Women's Basketball: Rio Hondo wraps up tough 2016-17 season

Rio Hondo College women's basketball head coach Steve Johnson knew the Roadrunners' first season as a member of the South Coast Conference might be a difficult one. Placed in the SCC North Division with perennial powers Mt. San Antonio, East Los Angeles, and Pasadena City colleges, Rio Hondo struggled and wrapped up the 2016-27 season on Friday with an 84-51 loss at L.A. Trade-Tech College.

Rio Hondo ended the season with a 4-23 overall record and went 0-10 in SCC North Division play.

The Roadrunners got off to a slow start and fell behind 27-5 after the first quarter and was down 51-23 at halftime.

Sophomore Marisa DeLeon led Rio Hondo with 11 points in her final game as a Roadrunner. Aliyah Montiel, Racquel Romero, and Sammie Flores all scored eight points each.
