Sophomore Ashley Rendon led Rio Hondo College with 17 points and seven rebounds in a 79-52 Foothill Conference loss at Chaffey College on Wednesday night. The loss dropped the Roadrunners to 8-11 overall and evened their conference mark at 1-1.

Rio Hondo played well early and trailed Chaffey by just four points (19-15) after the first quarter. But Chaffey pulled away in the second. The Panthers outscored Rio Hondo 23-12 and then held the Roadrunners to just six points in the third quarter to put the game out of reach.

Rendon added four steals and three assists on her impressive night while sophomore Danna Robles chipped in with 10 points, four rebounds, and two steals. Sophomore Julissa Vargas also had a good night with eight points and a team-high six assists.

Rio Hondo looks to get back on track on Saturday (Jan. 16) at 1 p.m. when the Roadrunners host College of the Desert in their home opener.
