Rio Hondo opens conference play with 74-60 win at Barstow

Sophomores Alexis Hernandez and Danna Robles both scored 16 points while sophomore Julissa Vargas posted a double-double with 13 points and 12 assists to lead the Rio Hondo College women's basketball team to a 74-60 win at Barstow College on Saturday in both teams' Foothill Conference opener.

The win was the Roadrunners third straight and improved them to 8-10 overall and 1-0 in Foothill play.

Rio Hondo held a narrow 40-35 lead at halftime before outscoring Barstow 19-9 in the third quarter to put the game out of reach.

Hernandez and Robles both added six rebounds while sophomore Justin Manjarrez chipped in with 13 points.

Rio Hondo returns to action on Wednesday (Jan. 13) when the Roadrunners travel to Chaffey College for a conference game.
