Softball: Roadrunners drop 11-1 SCC home game to Pasadena

The Rio Hondo College softball team managed just three hits in an 11-1, five-inning loss to the visiting Pasadena City College Lancers on Thursday in Whittier.

Rio Hondo starting pitcher Alize Lopez held Pasadena scoreless over the first two innings until the Lancers broke the 0-0 tie with three runs in the top of the third inning. PCC took a commanding lead with a six-run, fourth-inning and closed out its win with two final runs in the fifth.

The Roadrunners finally got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fifth. Maria Enriquez and Desiree Rhodes hit consecutive singles with one out to put runners on the corners. Jessica Salazar followed that with a ground out that allowed Enriquez to score Rio Hondo's lone run.

The loss dropped Rio Hondo to 5-29-1 overall and 0-8 in SCC play. The Roadrunners will look to snap a three-game losing streak on Monday (April 16) when they host Chaffey College in a conference game at 3 p.m.
