Softball: Roadrunners fall 6-1 at Orange Coast

Host Orange Coast College wasn't kind to the Roadrunners on Saturday as Rio Hondo suffered a 6-1 non-conference loss in Costa Mesa.

The Roadrunners totaled five hits in the contest and was held scoreless all the way until the top of the seventh inning. Taylor Rodriguez led off with a single, moved to second on a wild pitch, and advanced to third thanks to an infield single by Janae Moreno. With one out, Desiree Rhodes hit a sacrifice fly to center that brought in Rodriguez to break up the OCC (14-15) shutout.

Five different Roadrunners had hits in the game. Victoria Medina lined a two-out double in the first but was stranded on base.

Rodriguez went the distance in the loss in the circle for Rio Hondo. She allowed four earned runs and 12 hits.

Rio Hondo, now 4-24-1 overall, returns to South Coast Conference play on Monday (April 2) when the Roadrunners and Long Beach City College resume a game that was halted due to bad weather at LBCC.
