Softball: Rio Hondo drops 8-2 SCC North game at Pasadena

The Rio Hondo College Roadrunners couldn't stop a flurry of two-run rallies against the visiting Pasadena City College Lancers and suffered an 8-2 South Coast Conference North Division loss at Jackie Robinson Park in Pasadena on Thursday.

The Lancers (23-10-1, 8-2 SCC) scored two runs in the second, fourth, fifth, and sixth innings on their way to the win.

The Roadrunners posted their lone runs in the top of the sixth. Alicia Olivas hit a RBI single that drove in Sarah Hauffen-Salgado while an error on Loren Pichardo's fielder's choice grounder allowed Jelissa Castanon to score.

Olivas and Salgado both had two hits each to lead Rio Hondo at the plate.

From the circle, Brenae Martinez took the loss after allowing seven earned runs and 14 hits over six innings. She struck out five and walked two.

Rio Hondo, now 9-25 overall and 2-7 in the SCC North, returns to action on Friday (Apr. 14) at 5 p.m. when it travels to East Los Angeles College for a conference game.
