Softball: Roadrunners fall in five innings at Pasadena

Rio Hondo College totaled just three hits in an 8-0, five-inning loss at Pasadena City College on Thursday, With the loss, the Roadrunners dropped to 6-11 overall and 0-2 in South Coast Conference play.

Pasadena (10-6, 2-0 SCC) jumped on Rio Hondo starting pitcher Brenae Martinez early. The Lancers scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning, added another in the second, and closed out the mercy-rule win with three runs in the fifth.

Five of those eight runs were earned on Martinez' part. She allowed 10 hits and struck out one over 4 2/3 innings in the loss.

Tiana Rodriguez, Alicia Olivas, and Marissa Macias hit singles for the Roadrunners.

Rio Hondo will look to snap its four-game losing streak on Friday (Mar. 10) when the Roadrunners host San Diego City College in a non-conference game at 3 p.m.
