Freshman right fielder Alicia Olivas went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI, but she was one of the few bright spots in a 14-4 Rio Hondo College loss at Cerritos College on Thursday. The six-inning South Coast Conference interdivision defeat dropped the Roadrunners to 4-7 overall this season.

Cerritos totaled 13 hits in the contest and jumped on Rio Hondo starting pitcher Brenae Martinez early. The Falcons scored three runs in the bottom of the first, and added another in the second before blowing the game open with a seven-run, fourth-inning.

Rio Hondo couldn't get much going on early against Cerritos starter Carly Gutierrez. But in the fourth, the Roadrunners loaded the bases with two outs to set up Olivas two-run single that scored Karina Gomez and Tiana Rodriguez.

In the fifth, Rodriguez drew a one-out, bases-loaded walk to force in Sarah Hauffen-Salgado while Gomez' fielder's choice allowed Jelissa Castanon to score.

Martinez took the loss for Rio Hondo, allowing nine earned runs and 13 hits over five innings.

The Roadrunners will look to bounce back on Saturday (Mar. 4) when they travel to LA Valley College for a pair of non-conference games. Rio Hondo faces LA Valley at 10 a.m. followed by a 12 p.m. game against Fullerton College.
