Returning all-state pitcher Brenae Martinez fired a three-hit shutout while Loren Pichardo went 3 for 3 and scored both runs in Rio Hondo College's 2-0 non-conference win at Los Angeles Mission College on Friday.

The victory snapped a three-game losing streak for the Roadrunners as they improved to 4-5 overall this season.

Martinez moved to 3-4 overall this season after allowing just three hits while striking out three. The effort was a much-needed bounce back for Martinez after allowing 15 earned runs and 21 hits over her previous two starts.

In just her fifth game of the season, Pichardo likely cemented her spot in the starting lineup for the Roadrunners. She went a perfect 3 for 3 and scored Rio Hondo's runs in the second and sixth innings after RBI by Desiree Rhodes and Serina Castrellon.

Rio Hondo will look to even up its record on Tuesday (Feb. 28) when the Roadrunners host El Camino College Compton Center in a 3 p.m. South Coast Conference interdivision game.
