Swim & Dive: Dimitriadis, De La Rosa earn top-10 finishes at State Championships

MONTEREY PARK – It was a great weekend for two members of Rio Hondo College swimming and diving team. At the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) State Championships, freshmen Xander Dimitriadis and Fabian De La Rosa combined for five top-10 showings and earned All-American honors.

Dimitriadis, out of Esperanza High School, was named an All-American in all three of his events. His best was a sixth-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:08.46. Earlier, he swam 2:06.67 in the prelims to earn his spot in the finals.

Dimitriadis added a ninth-place showing in the 200 free (1:43.83) and finished 10th in the 200 IM at 1:56.09.

De La Rosa earned a pair of eighth-place finishes in diving for the Roadrunners. He totaled 140.85 points in the 3-meter dive and scored 162.35 points in the 1-meter event to earn All-American honors.

The duo totaled 51 points to lead Rio Hondo to a 20th-place team finish in the final State Championship men's standings. The State Championships, held at East Los Angeles College in Monterey Park, closed out the 2022 season for the Roadrunners.
