Swimming & Diving: Rio Hondo Men 7th, Women 8th at SCC Finals

The Rio Hondo College men's and women's swimming & diving teams finished in seventh and eighth place respectively at the 2016 South Coast Conference Championships at Cerritos College this past weekend. The Roadrunner men totaled 285 points, just four points back of sixth-place Pasadena at 289 points while the Rio Hondo women combined for 237 points.

Leading the RHC men was Jeremy Foster. He had Rio Hondo's best finish, taking second place in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:45.00. He was also third in the 500 freestyle at 4:49.00 and fourth in the 100 freestyle, clocking in at 48.51.

Foster will be Rio Hondo's lone representative at the CCCAA State Championships on May 5-7 at East Los Angeles College as he qualified in the 200 and 500 freestyle events.

On the women's side, Erica Valdez led the Roadrunners with three top-10 finishes. She was fourth in both the 400-yard IM (5:17.34) and 200-yard butterfly (2:28.78). Valdez was also eighth in the 200 IM with a time of 2:30.67.
