Men’s Soccer: Late surge leads Rio Hondo to 2-0 win over LA Mission

Rio Hondo College sophomore Angel Flores scored a goal and added an assist to help lead the Roadrunners to a 2-0 non-conference win over visiting Los Angeles Mission College on Friday in Whittier.

Rio Hondo won its third straight match and improved to an unbeaten 6-0-2 overall record.

After a scoreless first half, the Roadrunners broke the game open midway through the second. In the 60th minute, Flores fed Jonathan De Jesus for the goal to finally break the deadlock.

Flores iced the victory with his goal moments later in the 62nd minute off the assist from Joseph Fuentes.

Jesus Rendon posted the shutout in goal for the Roadrunners. It was Rio Hondo's fourth shutout of the season.

Today's win closed out the Roadrunners' non-conference schedule. On Tuesday (Sept. 25), Rio Hondo travels to nearby East Los Angeles College in Monterey Park for both teams' South Coast Conference opener. Match time is set for 4 p.m.
