Men's Soccer: Roadrunners recover from tough loss with win over Fullerton

The roles were reversed for the Rio Hondo College men's soccer team on Friday. On Tuesday, Rio Hondo held a 2-0 lead in the 74th minute over San Bernardino Valley College and saw the Wolverines rally for three late goals to hand the Roadrunners a heart-breaking loss.

But at the opening game of the Mt. SAC/Adidas/Azteca Soccer Tournament in Walnut on Friday, it was the Roadrunners that pulled out the impressive come-from-behind win.

Fullerton took a 2-1 lead in the 15th minute and held the advantage all the way until the 55th minute. RHC's Jose Mederos scored off the assist from Fernando Guerrero to tie up the contest before Abel Trejo (Roman Delgado assist) came through with the game-winning goal in the 70th minute to help secure the victory for the Roadrunners.

Rio Hondo also got a first-half goal from Moses Gutierrez in the 10th minute off the assist from Mauricio Sanchez.

Jose Paredes posted six saves in goal for the Roadrunners to earn the win.

Rio Hondo, now 2-1, returns to tournament play on Sunday (Sep. 3) when the Roadrunners take on West Hills College Lemoore at 11 a.m.
