Kevin Akiyama enters his seventh season as an assistant coach for the Rio Hondo Men’s basketball program.  Akiyama graduated from Schurr High School and continued his education at East Los Angeles College, where he received an Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Arts. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Art (Design) and Minor in Marketing Management from Cal Poly Pomona and later received his Master’s degree in Physical Education and Educational Counseling from Azusa Pacific University. Akiyama currently resides in Rosemead. 

Coaching experience:

• 7 seasons as Assistant Coach Men’s Basketball at Rio Hondo College
• 9 season Head Varsity Basketball Coach at Schurr High School.
• 2 season Assistant coach in the JBL League, which included current and former NBA players, as well as top overseas and college players.
