Following the close of the 2021-22 Rio Hondo College men’s basketball season, a pair of Roadrunners were honored with South Coast Conference postseason honors.
WHITTIER --- Chris Herrera totaled game-highs of 22 points and 11 assists while Andre Batiste posted 15 points and 10 rebounds to help lead Rio Hondo College to an 87-65 South Coast Conference North Division win over visiting Pasadena City College on Thursday night.

WHITTIER --- Matthew Turner-Bigbee scored a season-high 21 points to lead Rio Hondo College in a 95-76 South Coast Conference North Division loss to visiting No. 25 state-ranked Mt. San Antonio College on Wednesday.
WHITTIER – Freshman Sebastian Lara scored a game-high 20 points to lead Rio Hondo College in a 78-60 loss to visiting San Diego Mesa College on Wednesday night.
Freshman Shymar Wiggins totaled 18 points and 9 rebounds to lead Rio Hondo College in a tough 74-68 loss at College of the Canyons on Saturday in Valencia.
Sebastian Lara scored a season-high 25 points and Andre Batiste posted a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds but it wasn’t enough to lift Rio Hondo College to a win as the Roadrunners suffered a tough 81-76 loss in overtime to visiting Cerro Coso College on Wednesday night.
Despite some impressive individual efforts over the weekend, the Rio Hondo College men’s basketball team wasn’t able to earn a victory and suffered three close losses at the Gregg Anderson Memorial Basketball Tournament at Antelope Valley College.
Rio Hondo College led 33-26 at halftime at Chaffey College on Tuesday night before the Panthers turned up the intensity in the second half and ultimately overcame the Roadrunners to hand Rio Hondo a narrow 61-58 non-conference loss.
It was a difficult start to the 2021-22 season for the Rio Hondo College men’s basketball team. The Roadrunners suffered three losses over the weekend, including a buzzer-beater on Saturday against Golden West College, at the Don Gehler Memorial Tournement ay San Diego Miramar College.
