Men’s Basketball: Roadrunners come up short in overtime

Sophomore Kenyatta Louder poured in 20 points while freshman Anthony Rios added 16 points but the Rio Hondo College Roadrunners couldn't come away with a win as they suffered a narrow 65-63 loss in overtime at Chaffey College on Friday night.

The loss dropped Rio Hondo to 4-13 overall and evened its South Coast Conference North Division record at 1-1.

The Roadrunners erased a 28-20 halftime deficit and outscored Chaffey 37-29 in the second to force OT. But in overtime, Chaffey's Darrion Willies' nailed a shot with just seconds left on the clock that proved to be the game-winner.

Freshman Jonathan Martinez also had a good game for the Roadrunners as he totaled 15 points and seven rebounds. Rios also grabbed seven boards while sophomore Alexis Baron led Rio Hondo with eight rebounds.

Louder scored in double digits for the 15th time out of 17 games this season. His 21.8 points per game average leads Rio Hondo and ranks his No. 10 state-wide.

The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday (Jan. 24) when they travel to face East Los Angeles College for a 7 p.m. SCC North Division game.
