Men’s Basketball: Louder drops 34 points in Rio Hondo loss to LA Harbor

Rio Hondo College sophomore Kenyatta Louder continued his scoring assault on CCCAA opponents, this time scorching LA Harbor College for 34 points but the Roadrunners still lost by a final score of 101-95 at the Cypress College Don Johnson Classic on Friday.

This came on the heels of a 26-point outburst by Louder in a narrow loss to host Cypress on Thursday night. Over nine games this season, Louder currently ranks fourth in state scoring by averaging an impressive 24.9 points per game.

LA Harbor 101, Rio Hondo 95
A second-half Rio Hondo rally came up short in a high-scoring affair as the Roadrunners were edged to open the tourney. Rio Hondo trailed 46-34 at halftime before putting up 61 points over the final 20 minutes.

Louder's 34 points was a season high and marked the second time this season he's scored 30 points or more.

Anthony Rios had a big game with 24 points and nine rebounds while Jesus Hernandez posted 16 points, five boards, and three assists.

Cypress 70, Rio Hondo 62
It was more of the same for the Roadrunners in their opener of the tourney. Cypress was up 43-28 at halftime before Rio Hondo put together another late rally that came up short.

Louder nearly had a double-double with 26 points and nine rebounds while Jesus Hernandez came off the bench to score 15 points. They were the lone Roadrunners to score in double figures on the night.

Rio Hondo, now 1-8 overall, returns to action on Dec. 14 when they open the LA Southwest College Classic against Oxnard College at 3 p.m.
