DeShaun Carr came off the bench to score a team-high 14 points but Rio Hondo College couldn't overcome a slow start and dropped a 75-53 non-conference game at No. 17 state-ranked Citrus College on Tuesday night.

Citrus jumped out to a 14-2 lead at the 16-minute mark in the opening period and led by as many as 22 points midway through the second half. The Roadrunners made just 17 of 58 shots from the field and went 3 for 16 from three-point range.

Carr added seven rebound and three steals to his 14-point effort. Trevon Welch led the Roadrunners with 11 boards while Derek Ohara contributed 10 points, four rebounds, and two assists.

The loss dropped Rio Hondo to 8-9 overall. The Roadrunners return to non-conference action on Jan. 14 when they face Cerritos College as part of the LA Southwest College Reggie Morris Showcase.
