Men's Basketball: Rio Hondo beats Cypress for fourth straight win

The Rio Hondo College men's basketball team continued its hot start to open the season as the Roadrunners won their fourth straight with a 73-65 non-conference victory over visiting Cypress College on Tuesday.

The Roadrunners trailed Cypress 35-34 at halftime before rallying in the second half for the come-from-behind win. Rio Hondo is now 6-2 overall while Cypress is still searching for its first win at 0-4.

Sophomore Angelo Sandoval led the Roadrunners with 17 points while freshman Josiah Sotomayor came off the bench to score 14. Freshman DeShaun Carr posted 13 points to go with eight rebounds while freshman Trevon Welch chipped in with eight points and seven rebounds.

Rio Hondo will look to add to its winning streak when the Roadrunners return to action on Dec. 2-4 at the 65th Annual Gregg Anderson Memorial Tournament at Antelope Valley College. Rio Hondo will face host AVC on Friday at 7 p.m.
