Sophomore right fielder Nick Ybarra was the lone Rio Hondo College Roadrunner to earn postseason honors and was named first-team All-South Coast Conference North Division by opposing coaches at Saturday's conference meeting.

Ybarra was a bright spot on an otherwise difficult 2018 season. Over 22 conference games, his .389 batting average and .633 slugging percentage ranked third in the SCC North while his 11 doubles led the division. His 35 hits in SCC play ranked second division-wide. He also hit 3 home runs and totaled 16 RBI.

For the season, Ybarra hit .335 with 53 hits, 11 doubles, 1 triple, 3 home runs, and 28 RBI. He scored 29 runs, walked 13 times, and compiled a .475 slugging percentage.

Rio Hondo closed the 2018 season with a 13-25 overall record and finished in fifth place in the final SCC North Division standings at 6-16. The Roadrunners failed to reach the postseason for just the second time over the past 14 seasons.
