Facing the No. 1-ranked team in the state, the Rio Hondo College Roadrunners snapped the El Camino College Warriors' 25-game winning streak thanks to a narrow 3-2 win on Tuesday in Torrance to open a two-game South Coast Conference interdivision series.

Brady Carlson (4-2) struck out six batters while allowing a run and five hits over an impressive seven-inning start to cool off the red-hot Warriors.

The Roadrunners scored early off El Camino co-ace Taylor Rashi (9-2) to hand him just his second loss of the season.

In the top of the second, Gabe Chavez hit a sacrifice fly to score Nick Ybarra, followed by a RBI single by Danny Marquez that brought home Tony Rosario.

In the fourth, R.J. Romo drove in the eventual game-winning run with his sac fly that scored Chavez.

Carlson got into trouble in the sixth inning, allowing a lead-off walk and consecutive singles that scored a run. After a wild pitch allowed runners to move to second and third, he induced a fielder's choice out at home and closed the threat by striking out the Warriors' Hunter Lewis.

El Camino looked to put together one last rally in the ninth. Trevor Casanova smacked a solo home run off reliever Isaiah Ramos to get momentum going. But Anthony Franco came in to record the final two outs and earn his fifth save of the season.

Marquez, Romo, Ybarra, and Rosario all had two hits each to lead the Roadrunners at the plate.

With the win, Rio Hondo improved to 17-15 overall while El Camino suffered just its third loss of the season to fall to 33-3. The two squads wrap up the series on Thursday (Apr. 20) at 2:30 p.m. in Whittier.
