Beach Volleyball: Rio Hondo season ends at SCC Pairs tourney

The 2019 Rio Hondo College women's beach volleyball season came to a close for the Roadrunners on Friday at the South Coast Conference Pairs Championship. It was a tough day for head coach Teddi Esko's squad as all five duos suffered losses in their opening matches at El Camino College and were eliminated from the tournament.

The Roadrunners' No. 1 team of Gabrielle Cruz and Vania Maciel was seeded fourth for the tourney and suffered a 21-17, 21-13 upset loss to the El Camino squad of Kelly Donatucci and Jessica Villasenor.

The Roadrunners wrapped up the season with a 6-12 overall record in team play, opening the year by winning its first five matches. But Rio Hondo went 0-6 in the highly competitive South Coast Conference.
