The 2019 Rio Hondo College women’s beach volleyball season came to a close for the Roadrunners on Friday at the South Coast Conference Pairs Championship.
Rio Hondo College faced off against Long Beach City College on Friday and suffered an identical result. As the designated home team, the Roadrunners fell to the Vikings by a final score of 5-0 in a South Coast Conference match at the Granada Beach volleyball courts in Long Beach.
Rio Hondo College is still in search of its first South Coast Conference victory after suffering a 4-1 loss to Mt. San Antonio College on Friday at the Granada Beach volleyball courts in Long Beach.
The final scoresheets from Saturday’s matches will show the Rio Hondo College women’s beach volleyball team suffered three losses at Warm Waters Beach in Carlsbad. But according to head coach Teddi Esko, the Roadrunners gained valuable experience that will help them as the season continues.
It’s not always sunny at the beach as was the case for Rio Hondo College on Wednesday in its non-conference match against Orange Coast College in Huntington Beach. But under cold and windy conditions, the Roadrunners persevered and came out on top in a big 3-2 win over the Pirates at the Newland Volleyball Courts.
The 2019 women’s beach volleyball season got off to a great start for Rio Hondo College head coach Teddi Esko and the Roadrunners. Her squad went a perfect 2-0 on opening day, earning identical 4-1 wins over Santa Ana College and Santa Monica College on Friday at the Newland Volleyball Courts in Huntington Beach.
