Volleyball: Bustillos signs with Bethel College of Kansas

Rio Hondo College volleyball head coach Teddi Esko has announced that sophomore indoor and beach volleyball player Rachel Bustillos has signed a national letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic career at Bethel College of Kansas.

"The Rio Hondo College coaching staff is so proud of Rachel and all her accomplishments," said Esko. "She has worked very hard in the classroom and court to achieve this goal of transferring out of state."

Bustillos, a two-year student-athlete originally out of Gabrielino High School, is currently competing on the Roadrunners' beach volleyball team and wrapped up her sophomore season on the indoor squad this past fall. From the defensive specialist position, Bustillos saw action in 19 matches in the fall and totaled 65 digs and 25 aces.

"Rachel is a talented, hard working, and driven young lady," added Esko. "She'll be a great addition to the Threshers volleyball program."

Bethel College is located in North Newton, Kansas and competes at the NAIA level. The Threshers are led by head coach Scott Weston.

Also on Monday for Rio Hondo, sophomores Paula Alferez and Carleigh Cruz announced verbal commitments to Hope International University in Fullerton. They are both expected to officially sign letters of intent in the weeks to come.
